Director of Engineering

Do you love code and want to work on a team that is revolutionizing the brewing industry?
The 5th Ingredient (T5I) is seeking a Director of Engineering for its highly-successful Brewery Data Management Software. This is a key hire for the team — as the company grows, our founders need to focus on product definition and business development, creating a unique opening for a strong engineering lead.
The Director of Engineering role involves total engineering ownership of the software product. This is a full-stack LAMP product, incorporating Javascript, Bootstrap, and CodeIgniter, running on AWS infrastructure. This role encompasses all aspects of engineering ownership including:
  • Working directly with senior leadership to implement the product roadmap.
  • Building and leading a team of engineers to ensure the product's ongoing success.
  • Monitoring the production system for outages and maximizing performance.
  • The role is 80% technical and 20% managerial, with the expectation of continuing to build and deploy core features in the system.
  • Planning, executing, and delivering on architectural improvements.
Well qualified candidates for this role will have demonstrated experience and skills in:
  • Web technologies (LAMP, Javascript, CodeIgniter or equivalent MVC platform).
  • AWS or equivalent cloud tech.
  • API design.
  • Database design for for performance and scale.
  • Deploying development environments for well managed DevOps.

Senior Full Stack Software Engineer

The 5th Ingredient is seeking a Senior Full Stack Software Engineer for its highly-successful Brewery Data Management Software. This hire will be working directly with the Director of Engineering and other engineers on the team. We're growing fast and have many brand new feature requests and R&D that we can't get to with our current staff.
The Senior Full Stack Software Engineer role involves detailed walkthrough of numerous projects and database improvements of the software product. This is a full-stack LAMP product, incorporating Javascript, Bootstrap, and CodeIgniter, running on AWS infrastructure. This role encompasses all aspects of engineering including:
  • Creatively problem solving, focused on product implementation, architecture, and design.
  • Developing and deploying core features in LAMP product stack, incorporating Javascript, Bootstrap, and CodeIgniter.
  • Clearly collaborating and communicating with other team members regarding engineering OKRs and project timelines.
  • Analyzing and creating DB Schemas and design architecture for scale.
  • Prioritizing deadlines and understanding the tradeoffs between urgency and perfection.
  • Monitoring the production system for outages and performance.
  • The role is a 100% technical job.

Full Stack PHP Developer

Description
  • Translate project specifications into full stack modules that are cross-platform and cross-device compatible
  • Develop front and back-end-related product features for optimal user experience
  • Oversee and drive projects from conception to finished product
  • Brainstorm, execute, and deliver solutions that meet both technical specs and customer needs
  • Test your code to ensure functionality and efficiency
  • Troubleshoot, debug, and upgrade software
  • Be responsive to change requests and feature requests
  • Drive and code solutions with a creative approach
  • Work with team to find the right solutions
Requirements
  • 3+ years with both front-end and back-end technologies in a B2B web production environment
  • Proven experience in PHP development & architecture
  • Comprehensive knowledge of MySQL and relational databases
  • Fluent in CSS and HTML; Bootstrap experience desirable
  • Experience with JavaScript / JQuery
  • A strong understanding of compatibility and cross-browser issues
  • A love for creating full service end-to-end solutions that are the foundation for great customer experiences
  • Familiar with OOP, MVC, and commonly used design patterns (CodeIgniter architecture is a bonus)
  • Comfortable with continuous integration, source control, and other DevOps methodologies
  • Ability to pick things up quickly and strong desire to learn
  • Ability to work both independently and in collaborative teams to communicate design and build ideas (Note, this is a 100% remote position.)
  • Experience surrounding the technical needs of data-driven websites, apps and integrations
  • Experience building responsive websites/apps for pc, tablet, and mobile devices - including a deep understanding of how user experience differs across devices
  • Passionate about delivering top tier experience to our web-based app customers
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
  • Able to thrive in both unsupervised environment and working in tandem with a team member, via pair-programming remote sessions
  • Experience in brewing / beverage manufacturing is a bonus, but not required

Position Details

Account Executive for The 5th Ingredient
We are seeking an experienced Sales Professional to join our team who is passionate about solving breweries' quality and consistency challenges with our flagship product, Beer30.
In this role, you’ll serve as the go-to technical consultant performing virtual demos of our brewery management software solution, Beer30. You will be handling a list of inbound qualified leads and selling to breweries around the world - guiding prospective customers from first contact to close.
The right candidate will have the drive, skills, and mindset to excel in a remote / small team environment and a proven track record of delivering results in SaaS sales (or comparable product).

Description
  • Guide inbound leads from prospects to customers by understanding and assessing their requirements and presenting product demonstrations that clearly communicate our value.
  • Setting your own appointments, managing your own schedule, and closing your own deals to hit monthly and quarterly sales goals.
  • Work with leadership to refine strategies and planning for driving company sales.
  • Collaborate with the marketing and management teams about strategies/feedback/insights necessary to improve lead capture and engagement.
  • Collaborate with the product leadership team about product improvements and other sales feedback to address and sell more products.
  • Manage, track, and report all activities in HubSpot.
Requirements
  • Strong and effective communicator in virtual meetings.

  • Great communicator within the team - since this position is 100% remote there will be lots of additional communication early on.
