We have grown our business in leaps and bound since launching the brewpub two and a half years ago. Back then we only had an annual production of 45,000 litres a year. Since opening the production facility in Dec 2018 and increasing production several times over we realised very quickly that we needed a system to help and support us. What really blew us away was the speed of implementation. 24 hours from decision to go with Beer30 and we had loaded our inventory, stock, what was in our tanks and set up for packaging. Then 36 hours after decision, we were brewing with the support of Beer30.

We switched to Beer30 from Ekos about two years ago and it has been a smooth process since the day we signed on. The onboarding process was user friendly, easily navigable, and the Beer30 team was always there with a quick response to any questions or concerns.
Beer30 offers a customizability for every aspect of the brewing process making it a program built, not only for brewing in general, but for your brewery specifically. became so easily operational and streamlined into one program that is simple enough for every member of the brewery and management team to be able to tell what is happening on all fronts.
The intricate details of the program allow us to have a trail of every data point, tasting note, and quality assurance test throughout each batch's life and it feels like we continue to find more and more ways to utilize the program to make our day to day more streamlined.
Finally, to top it all off, I can't express how important customer service is and they have the best. Questions are answered within minutes with step by step instructions on how to fix or find something and they take every customer complaint/request and actually act on it, which means constant improvements to the program.

“Having just recently gone through a long ERP system change that took months, the implementation time for Beer30 was night and day.
New database was up within hours and had most information (recipes, ingredients, data trackers) entered in a couple days.
At the size we are currently and still growing this was a massive help for adjusting to another new system.
While we are committed to using the new ERP for inventory and accounting functions, we have found a balance between the two systems. The ERP is used for quantitative data while Beer30 is used for qualitative data and this is the info we need to make decisions every day. Beer30 serves as our QC and batch tracking database.
The mantra of 3 clicks is a real thing. From brewing to the dashboard to whatever info I’m looking for is available within 3 clicks. Tracking tanks is super easy with day counters on the dashboard and tank action automation built into the recipes. This provides a baseline if your batches are progressing on the timeline you expect. The charting functions throughout the system help provide quick reviews and in-depth analysis of brands batch to batch. Yeast tracking is a breeze with visibility on where your generations came from. Tank tags keep the entire staff in the loop on what each tank is doing. Working with the Beer30 dev team, we were able to build a diacetyl testing module for which data can be tracked by batch and user. This helps the QA department in their goals of passing quality checks and will help build sensory panel data about participants thresholds to certain compounds.
Overall, Beer30 has been a great tool to bring on and has brought a lot of light to daily processes that either lived in notebooks and binders or were muddled in an ERP database that wasn’t really designed for qualitative data. The system is intuitive, user friendly, and easy to train staff to use.

After trying to implement other brewery management programs multiple times unsuccessfully over the last 5 years we thought we were doomed to live a life of mediocre spreadsheets.
Other programs we tried lacked intuitive programming and we’d have brewers struggling to do even simple tasks because of glitches or programming errors that could not be easily fixed.
Luckily after seeing a few other brewers mention Beer30 online we set up a time to check it out with Pulkit and we haven’t turned back.
Implementation was simple… We did an hour or two training session with Pulkit and our management team then sat down our brewers for a lunch & learn and by the end of it our people felt proficient enough to hit the ground running. Initially we purchased iPads to help our crew keep information easily accessible but within a week most of them preferred to use their phone due to the simple user interface.
Compare this to when we were using other programs and users only ever felt comfortable on a desktop and as you can imagine accuracy in tracking and our data is much better when recorded in the moment as opposed to at the end of a shift or a day later.
In the past we’d also have to wrestle data and information from emails to spreadsheets to “other programs” and then finally into QuickBooks.
The integration directly from Beer30 into QuickBooks not only saves us time but helps eliminate “fat finger” human errors that have plagued us in the past.
Having more data is always better than less and Beer30 is helping us collect relevant data points in a way that we were NEVER going to be able to accomplish using spreadsheets or even paper logs.

After many frustrations with our existing brewery management software, we began researching alternatives.
We visited the Beer30 booth at CBC in Denver in 2021, and after talking with the Beer30 team and looking at what the software could do for us, we knew it was a no-brainer to switch over from Ekos.
The software offers access to real-time brewing, packaging, fermentation, inventory and sales data, accurate COGS, powerful reporting and charting. The ability to graph and compare fermentations of a specific brand without the extra spreadsheet data entry step is not only a time saver, but has

One of the biggest benefits of Beer30 has been their support team.
It seems like we’re never more than a few minutes away from a response to any query, quite unlike the 24+ hour response time from Ekos.

The Moorebeer Team has found Beer30 extremely easy and seamless to implement and use.
All team members have live access to process information in real time via email alerts to their mobile phones and iPads, which allows team members in different parts of the operation to swing into action immediately.
A couple of examples are…Once a beer has been transferred from the fermentation tank to the brite tank, the cleaning team get the real time notification to their mobile device and swing into action to clean the tank and get ready for the next batch. The warehousing team are alerted as soon as packaging has been completed in the production area and dispatch team members to transfer the finished product to the cold storage area.
These two examples alone have made significant improvements to team member productivity which in turn has led to overall improvement in operational efficiency.

The easy onboarding process and seamless integration to QuickBooks Online is, and has been, a great time saver. We have been able to eliminate several manually updated inventory spreadsheets. Now we can get the same information with just a couple of clicks in one software program. The inventory updates itself automatically as you are going through the brewing process. Creating Invoices from Sales Orders and Receiving Vouchers from Purchase Orders are simple processes and Syncs with QBO with a click of a button. We are really looking forward to having an Accounting Dashboard in the near future. It’ll save us even more time.
One of the things that impresses us most about this software is the quick response to issues and suggestions from Pulkit, Ryan, and the entire The 5th Ingredient team.

Bucha30 was a real game changer for our business.
Having the history of that continuous brew right there, being tracked at all times is invaluable. I can see every action that’s been done with it and the information is easy to read. When you have a continuous brew it’s easy to let it go for a couple of weeks.
But when you have this software tracking its quality, you can see the data and it encourages you to take action.
And it links with inventory and accounting, as I can see the associated cost of harvesting the SCOBY and repitching the SCOBY.
Bucha30 also makes it really easy to go back and look at brews - and do analysis of flavors and taste and how it fermented out. It encourages us to constantly look at ways to increase quality and figure out what’s working - and what’s not.
One thing I know I’ll struggle to find anywhere else is the responsiveness of The 5th Ingredient team. If I have a question and I’m sweating it out at 10 o’clock at night, stressing about a problem - they are there. I don’t know how much sleep they get! But the response time is generally 15 - 20 minutes.
There really isn’t anything that can replace the value of this kind of service.
DR HOPS KOMBUCHA BEER
We (Eddyline Brewery NZ) needed a solution to 1) comply with our Food Control Plan tracing requirements from grain to glass, 2) track every sale by batch and ABV for NZ excise tax reporting, 3) have a straightforward way of keeping up with all brewery activities and beer performance (fermentation metrics, carbonation, analytics, etc) from brewing to packaging, and 4) accurate up-to-date costs by container size (i.e., how much does a can truly cost?). We needed this this to integrate with our bookkeeping so that we could reconcile brewery production with accounting.
Beer30 initially appeared to tick most of the boxes but couldn't do all of our needs. After a few conversations with PK and Ryan of Beer30 we were confident that they could design additional features to meet our needs. We began the onboarding and despite our not being able to give them very much of our time they were able to get us running.
Our brewer immediately adopted it and found it incredibly valuable and helpful and much easier than using paper brew sheets and instead enters all data as a brew progresses into Beer30 via a chromebook or his phone.
Throughout the onboarding and now as we use it we have instant customer support via a WhatsApp chat or quick call and despite our 18 hour time difference we have immediate support throughout our day (when do they sleep lol?)
Customer service is absolutely top notch which is a rare commodity in today's world.
The NZ excise tax reporting is cumbersome and expensive. Overpaying is easy to do but very costly and underpaying can result in stiff penalties and fees.
Since Beer30 tracks every batch from grain to glass it knows the ABV per batch which it then tracks into the packaged product. When a sale is made it is invoiced through Beer30 and then synced to Xero while tracking the sale for the excise tax return.
Now instead of spending 3-4 long days tracking sales and correlating each sale to the ABV and volumes it is literally a 2 click process and more importantly our confidence level is very high that there are ZERO ERRORS! The cost savings is realized by labor savings alone.
Beer30 is a time-saving production enhancing package that makes our brewery run smoother while letting us owners rest knowing we are able to meet the stringent requirements associated with a brewery. Is Beer30 the end all brewery software solution? Not yet, but we are confident that features will be added to make running our brewery simpler and the features it does not have are not critical but rather simple desires. These are integration with a recipe building software like BeerSmith. Ability to plan future brews and having Beer30 create purchase orders for those future brews based on current inventory, a restricted access module where employees rates of pay be entered and then they track their activities for improved costing and timekeeping, and an ability to add in other overhead costs that then could be allocated to beer costs.
Beer30 is a powerful and fast management software and the support provided is top notch. We are very pleased that we chose Beer30 and look forward to a long partnership.

There is a Facebook group, the What’sApp communication app, the Knowledge Base, as well as direct email access to get answers or help resolving any issues.

Implementation and onboarding time took the better half of a week to fully complete. It was a very smooth process thanks to Beer30 being laid out in a way that accurately reflects the production process and how we view raw materials being converted into packaged beer.
Transitioning from our previous software to Beer30 was very easy. The time savings alone has been a huge improvement for us.
For example, we no longer have to wait over a minute to add an individual ingredient to a purchase order! The production staff was able to quickly adapt to Beer30 and easily troubleshoot issues thanks to Beer30's logically designed layout.
We are tracking more data points in Beer30 than we previously were which has provided new insight into our production processes and allowed us to confidently make process changes backed by hard data rather than anecdotal experience. We are able to access production data quickly and easily on our mobile devices. Having an unlimited amount of accounts allows for anybody to easily access the data they need at any time.
Being able to easily visualize the costs associated with each batch has been an extremely helpful feature for us.
If the costs of a batch are looking too high or too low while the beer is in production, we are able to make quick corrections such as making ingredient additions to a beer or adjusting the cost of a beer before it goes to market.
Customer Support has been extremely helpful especially with onboarding and settling into Beer30. The turnaround time from asking a question to getting a response is very quick which allows us to problem solve in real time rather than waiting until a software update comes along that will hopefully help with the issue we're experiencing.

The onboarding process was smooth, the customer support has been consistent, clear, efficient and extremely quick, and we immediately saw benefits of having our recipes, processes, and data in one place. The user interface is very intuitive.
The benefits of a quick visual UI for production, management and sales to check in on daily really has helped demystify the workflow and gotten the team onto the same page in ways that were harder to do with emails, shared docs, etc. Setting daily parameters for various recipes has helped to automate many aspects of production such as spunding, viability checks, d-rests, and so on, freeing up that management time for other tasks.
Now newly using the sensory module, we are excited to delve into more of the aspects of the software and see what other benefits it can bring to our production, taproom, and retail staff.

Since onboarding, we have moved all production planning and data entry into Beer30. Brew sheets, fermentation & yeast tracking, transfer data, CIP logs, QA/QC records and more all have a dedicated home within the platform. The recipes and fermentation schedules for each brand are programmed into the software which conveniently auto populate a schedule for the week. If the schedule changes, as it oftentimes does, it is easy to drag and drop tasks to the adjusted date/time.
Each member of the production team has a log-in, so it is easy to track who did what and when. I love how easy it is to login to the software on my cellphone and check the status of production when I am out of the plant. Pulkit and his team are incredibly responsive when questions arise and are quick to find solutions to our problems. Bryggverket used pen and paper tracking our beers for a long time. But as we grew we had to find a better system than that. I think I Googled for a week before finding anything that seemed to have what we needed and wouldn't ruin us. After I found and got in touch with The5thingredient everything worked out really fast. We had a video session and Pulkit showed me how Beer30 worked and set up WhatsApp for support.
I sat down a couple of hours myself to transfer all the recipes, ingredients and yeasts and just to get to know Beer30. And we were off. All the questions I've had during start-up and after that has been answered really fast.
We quickly got a tablet with a waterproof case to have in the brewery when using Beer30. Very quick and easy to use and to adapt to whatever you want it to do. We've added a lot of measuring points during brewing and fermentation apart from what is included, such as VDK test, starch test, HLP test, wort test and FFT.
But what I like best about it is that I don't have to have everything in my head and remind everyone at the brewery what has to be done, it keeps track of all the ingredients and warns us if anything is running low.
We all get reminders for the tasks we are supposed to do and Beer30 scales the recipes, so every brew tastes the same every time. It is simple, saves us time and makes sure we don't miss anything or have a shortage of ingredients.

I remember the days before Beer30 like it was yesterday. Back then, we were for the most part flying blind in many areas, like inventory and yeast generation tracking, in which Beer30 has since helped us grow exponentially more organized.
As a Brewer, Beer30 has made my job much easier. Things such as a live inventory of all Raw Materials have helped us plan out the brewing schedule with ease.
So many times before Beer30 we would scramble at the last minute to find substitutes for grain that we thought we had, causing us to push back brew dates and move things around. Frustrating, I know.
Outside of Raw Material inventory tracking, Beer30 seamlessly lets us track kegs and cases of cans, and enter brewing information in real time, and provides a single workspace for brewing batches, from recipe development to packaging and selling. For us, a smaller brewery that brews 1,400bbls or so a year, this program is perfect for us.
Many other programs we have used in the past were not as user friendly, and we spent more time fixing bugs and learning the software than brewing itself.
And beyond the amazing software, I have never dealt with a company whose developers are as responsive and helpful as the crew at Beer30. They have really developed the perfect software for brewers to use."

In previous occasions we had tried data programs but the truth is that they were always inaccessible, in terms of costs, and quite complex to manage.
When trying Beer30 we realized that in just 1 day we had put all our tanks, recipes, customers, etc. And we said this is the program we were looking for!
Today, I know exactly how much raw material and how much beer (in tanks, BT, Bottles, Kegs...) I have in the brewery, and I know exactly the cost of each thing. In each recipe, it does not matter if you add 1 gr of Whirfloc, or 50 ml of alkaline detergent, it all adds to the cost of beer, and this makes you know, at the end of the day, how much to spend on it. We can track each input that we add to beer thanks to the traceability that the program has. Sales became very streamlined as vendors place their orders in Beer30, and then at the brewery we put it together, order it, and that's it!
In conclusion, I have not used Excel, nor the calculator since we started with Beer30, everything is there, all in one place!
PS: It doesn't matter if you are a workaholic and you work on a Sunday at 4am, the technical support does not sleep, they are always there to help you!"

The startup for Beer30 was pretty seamless for me. An easy walk through with PK on the demo was enough to feel confident I could operate the software. I love the depth of data that I can provide at my own discretion on a recipe. The flow of materials and process is super simple and makes tracking a breeze. A few brews in and I was very familiar with how things move throughout the system.
Every time I brew I'm catching things on our new system, and able to record that through Beer30 notes and track improvements from brew to brew. This will help us in the short run and long run being able to consistently improve our efficiencies throughout the brewery.
Batch costing is very important to us as a brewpub. We want to maximize those over the counter margins and know right from the beginning what our COGS are for each recipe, even before we brew it. Once the raw materials are in there, you can build those recipes with pricing on them in real time and know exactly what your pricing should be at the tap.
The responsiveness of PK to help in the few times I've had something go wrong is crucial. Not only is he responding quickly but they fix the issue on the back end every time, continuously evolving the software every time. The dude must not sleep!

We found that Pulkit and his team have been very receptive about new ideas and upgrades for the software. We don’t use The 5th Ingredient for accounting. We primarily purchased the application as I wanted better visibility into what our inventory was. It has provided me the ability to look at inventory when I am away from the brewery so that I can better tell my distribution partners what I have available for them to purchase.
It is also giving me the ability to manage the inventory for a tasting room as well. We are able to put in all of our beer recipes into the application as well as our inventory for grain and hops. When we brew now, it will subtract our grain and hops inventory, as based on the recipe from what we have on hand. It also allows us to see what’s in every tank that we currently have. We have a 10 barrel brewhouse, a 20 barrel bright tank, 5-30 barrel fermenters, 2-20 barrel fermenters, and a 10 barrel fermenter.
With so much going on with brewing operations, it’s giving us visibility into what we have in every tank at any point in time. It also allows me to schedule out tasks for my team for the upcoming week. I get
notifications via text and email as tasks are completed
based on settings that I have provided.
I’ve also given an account to each of my sales team so that they can login and see what we currently have available for distribution sales as well. This has allowed them to be more agile been in the field dealing with accounts and being able to tell them that they can have Brand XYZ.
We operated for a year and a half without the software and I wish we had purchased this a lot sooner.
