We have grown our business in leaps and bounds since launching the brewpub two and a half years ago. Back then we only had an annual production of 45,000 litres a year. Since opening the production facility in Dec 2018 and increasing production several times over we realised very quickly that we needed a system to help and support us. We could no longer run inventory in our heads, keep up with distribution plus meet all the quality aspects of brewing consistently.
We looked around a lot, and finally, we were introduced to Beer30. From the moment we saw it and had a look through, we loved the system. We switched to Beer30 from Ekos about two years ago and it has been a smooth process since the day we signed on. The onboarding process was user friendly, easily navigable, and the Beer30 team was always there with a quick response to any questions or concerns.
Beer30 offers a customizability for every aspect of the brewing process making it a program built, not only for brewing in general, but for your brewery specifically. Parts of brewing, like inventory (of anything and everything), purchase orders, recipe creation, distribution invoicing, barrel inventory and actions, reports, batch comparisons and repeatability, and even production planning became so easily operational and streamlined into one program that is simple enough for every member of the brewery and management team to be able to tell what is happening on all fronts.
The intricate details of the program allow us to have a trail of every data point, tasting note, and quality assurance test throughout each batch's life and it feels like we continue to find more and more ways to utilize the program to make our day to day more streamlined.
Finally, to top it all off, I can't express how important customer service is and they have the best. Questions are answered within minutes with step by step instructions on how to fix or find something and they take every customer complaint/request and actually act on it, which means constant improvements to the program.
It was clear from our first demo of Beer30 that this software is different. We were ready to make a change from Orchestrated Beer and the brewing knowledge and customer service focus of the Beer30 team was a huge selling point for us. With their support we were up and running VERY quickly and the integration with QBO was smooth. Because Beer30 is built around the brewing process, our brewers have embraced the software – this was not the case with Orchestrated Beer. We finally have real-time information-rich brewing data available in one place (and that place is not a clipboard). Pelican Brewing is fortunate to be growing rapidly. This growth has stressed systems that historically provided visibility of liquid staging & migration. A recent ERP/MRP change had us in a spiral with too much time being spent on data entry & too little time on optimizing daily management of brewhouse/cellar/Lab/Packaging tasks.
Believe it or not …you can drop your email into a box on the internet and end up with a great software solution. The guys at Beer30 told us that integration would be quick & easy, and it actually was. We’ve moved almost all Brewhouse planning & management into Beer 30. It allows comprehensive management in just a few minutes. All tank monitoring, QA/QC, transfers, yeast management & batch tracking are unbelievably quick & easy. Also, B30 has an unbelievably cool charting tool, that allows quick access to trending across styles, brands and a myriad of other brewhouse data points. It’s easy and intuitive, and makes decision points clear & simple.
We still handle inventory, invoicing, and accounting function through an MRP/ERP. We completely decouple batches from the MRP, track essential data through Beer30, then send finished goods back to the MRP. It’s easy to do, with far fewer keystrokes. Best of all we didn’t have to spend time developing custom software. And we didn’t have to adapt a hybrid automation/MRP that was never really designed for our operations. The Beer30 team are brewery people, not accountants or automators. So they built a platform from the viewpoint of brewery people. And it works great.”

“Having just recently gone through a long ERP system change that took months, the implementation time for Beer30 was night and day. New database was up within hours and had most information (recipes, ingredients, data trackers) entered in a couple days. At the size we are currently and still growing this was a massive help for adjusting to another new system. While we are committed to using the new ERP for inventory and accounting functions, we have found a balance between the two systems. The ERP is used for quantitative data while Beer30 is used for qualitative data and this is the info we need to make decisions every day. Beer30 serves as our QC and batch tracking database.
The mantra of 3 clicks is a real thing. From brewing to the dashboard to whatever info I’m looking for is available within 3 clicks. Tracking tanks is super easy with day counters on the dashboard and tank action automation built into the recipes. This provides a baseline if your batches are progressing on the timeline you expect. The charting functions throughout the system help provide quick reviews and in-depth analysis of brands batch to batch. Yeast tracking is a breeze with visibility on where your generations came from. Tank tags keep the entire staff in the loop on what each tank is doing. Working with the Beer30 dev team, we were able to build a diacetyl testing module for which data can be tracked by batch and user. This helps the QA department in their goals of passing quality checks and will help build sensory panel data about participants thresholds to certain compounds.
Overall, Beer30 has been a great tool to bring on and has brought a lot of light to daily processes that either lived in notebooks and binders or were muddled in an ERP database that wasn’t really designed for qualitative data. The system is intuitive, user friendly, and easy to train staff to use. Pulkit and Ryan have been great to work with since day one and are very responsive to technical issues, troubleshooting, and new process ideation. As we continue to grow and find new challenges, I know Beer30 will be ready to take them on and we’re going to accomplish a lot of epic stuff together.”
The switch from Orchestrated Beer to Beer30 has made our lives so much easier. Implementation and onboarding were quick and easy, and QBO integration was a breeze. Entering invoices and PO's is wicked easy, and fixing any errors is usually just a click or two.

Another huge bonus - Beer30 has allowed our Head Brewers and Production Staff to take over entering their own brew logs and packaging information, which was never even a consideration with Orchestrated Beer. We’d definitely recommend making the switch!
